Palembang is the capital city of the South Sumatra province in Indonesia. With a rich history that dates back to the Srivijaya maritime empire, it is one of the oldest cities in Indonesia. It's situated on the Musi River banks, which splits the city into the lesser Seberang Ilir to the north and the greater Seberang Ulu to the south.
