The Rolwaling Valley is a remote and enchanted valley in the eastern part of the Himalaya range of Nepal. It's known for its stunning scenery, challenging treks, and the mythical Yeti sightings. The valley lies south of the Tibetan border and is accessed from different routes depending on your starting point.
Step 1: Fly into Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, the only international airport in Nepal. This is where most international travelers will begin their journey.
Step 2: From Kathmandu, you'll take a road journey towards the last motorable stop before Rolwaling Valley. This could either be Charikot or Singati, depending on road conditions and your chosen trek route.
Step 3: The final leg of the journey into the Rolwaling Valley is done on foot. Expect to trek for several days, where routes start from either the village of Shigati via Simigaon or Jagat. A local guide is highly recommended for navigation and safety, given the complexity of the trails and the potential for altitude sickness.
Due to its secluded location and the strenuous nature of the trek, the Rolwaling Valley is less touristy. This adds to the pristine beauty and serenity of the region, but also means amenities are basic. Ensure you are fully prepared before attempting this adventure.
