Best Time To Visit Samalona Island (Makassar) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Samalona Island, Makassar

Visiting Samalona Island, a picturesque tropical paradise located just a short boat ride away from Makassar, Indonesia, is a delightful experience year-round due to its warm tropical climate. However, the best time to visit Samalona Island is during the dry season which extends from May to September. During this period, visitors can expect less rainfall and lower humidity levels, making outdoor activities such as snorkeling, sunbathing, and swimming far more enjoyable. The seas are also calmer, allowing for clearer waters perfect for observing the vibrant marine life that surrounds this beautiful coral island.

Contrastingly, the wet season, which spans from October to April, sees higher levels of precipitation and can occasionally disrupt travel plans, as the sea can be rough, which affects the boat services to the island. Despite this, the wet season also brings with it a lush, rejuvenated landscape, highlighting the island's tropical beauty. If you're looking to avoid crowds and don't mind the occasional shower, the wet season could offer a more tranquil and solitary experience. Nonetheless, for the optimal balance of good weather and accessibility, planning your trip for the dry season is highly recommended.
