How To Reach Santa Maria Delle Grazie (Milan) In 2026 - 2027

Reaching Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan, Italy

If you plan to visit the renowned Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan, which houses the famous Last Supper mural by Leonardo da Vinci, you have several transportation options to consider. Below are the best ways to reach this iconic destination:

By Air

The nearest airport to Milan city center is Milano Malpensa Airport. Once you land, you can:

• Take a train: The Malpensa Express train will take you to Milano Cadorna Station. From there, Santa Maria delle Grazie is a short walk away.
• Choose a bus: There is a shuttle service that connects the airport with Milan's central train station, Milano Centrale. From Centrale, you can take the metro or a taxi.
• Use a taxi service: This is a more expensive option, but it will take you directly to Santa Maria delle Grazie from the airport.

By Train

If you are arriving by train, Milano Centrale, Milano Porta Garibaldi, and Milano Cadorna are the main stations serving the city. From there, you can:

• Take the metro: The closest metro station is Cadorna (on Line 1 and Line 2). It is just a few minutes' walk from the church.
• Catch a tram: Tram lines 16, 18, or 27 will drop you within walking distance to the site.
• Hop on a bus: Bus 94 stops nearby Santa Maria delle Grazie.

By Bus or Tram

Milan's public transport system is efficient and can get you close to Santa Maria delle Grazie. Look out for bus 94 or trams 16, 18, or 27.

By Car

If you're driving, note that Milan has a traffic restriction zone called Area C, which limits vehicle access at certain times. Be sure to check the current restrictions. Parking is available around the area, but finding a spot can be challenging. Consider parking further out and using public transport to reach your final destination.

On Foot or By Bike

Central Milan is pedestrian-friendly, and if you're staying downtown, walking could be a great option. Alternatively, Milan has a bike-sharing service called BikeMI which you can use to cycle to the church.

Regardless of your mode of transportation, it is highly recommended to book your tickets to see The Last Supper in advance, as access is timed and limited to preserve the artwork.
