Best Time To Visit Shirui Kashong Peak (Ukhrul) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Shirui Kashong Peak

The ideal time to visit Shirui Kashong Peak in Ukhrul, Manipur, is during the spring and early summer, specifically from April to June. This season is perfect as the weather is pleasant with moderate temperatures, allowing tourists to enjoy hikes and the outdoor beauty comfortably. This period also coincides with the blooming of the famous Shirui Lily (Lilium mackliniae), a rare and endemic species which is the star attraction of the area. The Shirui Lily Festival, which usually takes place in May, welcomes visitors from around the world to celebrate the blooming of these unique flowers, alongside showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the local tribes.

Monsoon season, from July to September, brings heavy rainfall making the trekking routes slippery and challenging, so it is generally less recommended for visits. The winter months, from November to February, though cooler, can still be a good time for those interested in a quiet retreat with fewer tourists around. However, the natural vegetation will not be as vibrant, and the Shirui Lilies will not be in bloom. If witnessing the peak's landscape lush and vibrant with floral beauty is a priority, timing your visit around the festival in the recommended spring to early summer months is the best choice. Always check with local sources before planning your trip, as weather patterns and festival dates can change.
