Visiting Shwenandaw Monastery

Once you reach the Shwenandaw Monastery, take time to appreciate the intricate wooden carvings which adorn its walls and roofs. This historic building is a remnant of the original Royal Palace and was personally used by King Mindon.

We recommend hiring a local guide to fully grasp the significance of the carvings and the history of the site. Ensure you dress respectfully, covering your knees and shoulders, as it is a place of worship.
