Shymbulak Ski Resort, also known as Chimbulak, is a premier skiing destination located in the upper part of the Medeu Valley in the Zailiysky Alatau mountain range. It's just 25 kilometers from the city of Almaty, Kazakhstan. As the largest ski resort in Central Asia, Shymbulak sits at an altitude ranging from 2,200 to 3,200 meters above sea level. The resort features a variety of slopes, catering to all difficulty levels, from beginner to professional. Equipped with modern ski lifts and gondolas, the resort allows visitors to enjoy not only winter sports but also the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Shymbulak became particularly well-known after hosting some of the events in the 2011 Asian Winter Games. Besides skiing and snowboarding, Shymbulak offers a ski school, equipment rentals, and a vibrant après-ski scene with restaurants and bars. The snow season here typically runs from November to April, with the best snow conditions often occurring between December and February.
