The Sinuiju Cosmetics Factory is located in Sinuiju, the capital of North Pyongan Province in North Korea, which lies on the border with China, separated by the Yalu River. Established with the intent to contribute to North Korea's self-sufficiency, this factory produces a variety of skincare and beauty products. It is occasionally highlighted in state media to showcase what the regime considers the country’s industrial achievements and technological capabilities in the field of cosmetics. During tours, visitors can observe the production process and may even be presented with products as souvenirs. The factory’s products are aimed at both domestic consumers and export markets. Despite international sanctions that have impacted North Korea's economy, the cosmetics industry, with the Sinuiju Factory as one of its pillars, is one of the sectors that the country is endeavoring to develop and promote to enhance its international trade footprint.
