How To Reach Taiz (Yemen) In 2026 - 2027
Welcome to Taiz, Yemen
Taiz is a historical city located in the southwestern part of Yemen. Known for its cultural significance and rich history, reaching Taiz can be an adventure due to the country's current situation. It is important to check the latest travel advisories and ensure that it is safe to travel. As of my knowledge cutoff in early 2023, travel to Yemen is often discouraged due to conflict and security issues.
Traveling to Taiz
As there are no direct international flights to Taiz due to the ongoing conflict, visitors typically have to travel through a few steps:
1. International Flight to a Nearby Country
The first step usually involves flying into a nearby country such as Oman or Saudi Arabia, which have operational airports and flights from international destinations.
2. Flight to Aden
The most common entry point into Yemen by air is through Aden International Airport. From there, travelers can take connecting flights to Taiz Airport (Al-Janad Airport), if operational.
3. Overland Travel
Overland routes from Aden to Taiz are possible; however, they require dealing with numerous checkpoints and can be hazardous. Hiring a local driver who is familiar with the area and current conditions is essential.
4. Domestic Flight within Yemen
If the situation allows, a domestic flight from Aden or another city to Taiz may be available. Domestic flights are subject to frequent changes and cancellations, and the availability of flights to Taiz is inconsistent. Check with local carriers for the latest schedules and availability.
