Traveling to Tarkeyghyang

Tarkeyghyang is a picturesque village situated in the Helambu region of Nepal. Renowned for its beautiful monasteries and the Hyolmo culture, it's a popular destination for trekkers seeking to indulge in the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the region.

Reaching Tarkeyghyang by Air

To reach Tarkeyghyang, most travelers start their journey from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. From Kathmandu, you can either start a trek to Helambu or take a helicopter flight towards the region.

Reaching Tarkeyghyang by Road

Step 1: Catch a bus or rent a private vehicle from Kathmandu to reach the town of Sundarijal, which is about 15 km to the northeast of Kathmandu.

Step 2: From Sundarijal, start your trek to Chisapani, which is a hike of about 4-5 hours. This will be the first stop of your journey.

Step 3: Continue trekking from Chisapani to Kutumsang, which takes approximately 6-7 hours.

Step 4: After an overnight stay at Kutumsang, trek to Thadepati, which is around 5-6 hours away.

Step 5: Lastly, from Thadepati, set out on a descent to Tarkeyghyang, which will take about 3-4 hours. Tarkeyghyang offers comfortable teahouses and lodges for visitors to rest and enjoy the local culture.

Important Tips and Considerations

Before embarking on your journey, ensure that you are well-versed with the route and have all necessary permits. The Langtang National Park entry permit and the TIMS card are mandatory for trekking in this area. It's also advised to check local weather conditions and consult with tour operators or local guides for current trail and weather information.
