How to Reach the Terracotta Army, Xi'an, China
The Terracotta Army is one of China's most famous historical attractions, located in Xi'an, the capital city of Shaanxi Province. It is well-connected and accessible through various forms of transportation.
By Air
Xi'an Xianyang International Airport (XIY) is the nearest airport to the Terracotta Army. Upon arrival, visitors have several options to reach the site:
- Taxi: A taxi from the airport to the Terracotta Army will take about an hour and is the most direct mode of transportation.
- Bus: Airport shuttle buses provide service to Xi'an city center, and from there, tourists can take a tourist bus (line 5,306 or 914) directly to the Terracotta Army.
By Train
Xi'an has a robust railway network with several train stations, but the two main ones are:
- Xi'an Railway Station: From here, tourists can take bus 914 or 915 directly to the Terracotta Army.
- Xi'an North Railway Station: This is the high-speed train station. From here, you can take the Metro Line 2 to Beidajie Station, then switch to bus 306 (you may also see it marked as tourist bus 5) which heads to the Terracotta Army.
By Bus
From Xi'an city center, tourists can take one of the several buses that head to the Terracotta Army. The bus 306 (Tourist 5), bus 307, or the tourist buses 914 and 915 all run from the center of Xi'an to the site.
By Private Car or Tour
For convenience, many visitors opt for a private car hire or join a guided tour from Xi'an. These can be arranged through hotels or travel agencies and offer greater flexibility with time and include other nearby attractions.
