Thian Hock Keng Temple, also known as Tianfu Temple, is one of the oldest and most important Hokkien temples in Singapore. Located in the heart of Chinatown, it was completed in 1842 and stands as a testament to the dedication of early Chinese immigrants. This architectural masterpiece was built in traditional southern Chinese style, without the use of a single nail, reflecting the superb craftsmanship of its builders. It is intricately decorated with sculptures of dragons and phoenixes, colorful tiles, and impressive calligraphy. The temple is dedicated to Mazu, the Taoist goddess of the sea, who is believed to protect seafarers and fishermen. As a focal point for the Chinese community in Singapore, it served as a place of worship and social gathering. The temple complex includes a main hall, rear hall, and side halls, and is adorned with numerous antique bells and a palanquin used for religious processions. It has been meticulously restored over the years and was awarded UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation in 2001.
We found the temple to be very pretty from the outside. You can only take pictures from the outside. There are no pictures allowed from the inside.

You should visit this temple and relax
Although its not as big as the other important temple nearby, this area has its beauty in various side-shrines and the qietness of the place.

Positive Aspects
This large historical temple is situated near the Telok Ayer MRT station. It is easy to find. The decorations on its ceilings and rooftops are convoluted and colorful. The building is well maintained.

Relaxing
This is, in my opinion, the most relaxing temple in Singapore. If you’re there, you can express your wish… or as many wishes as you want, why not?
