Type of destination: Observation and broadcast tower
Ideal visit duration: 2-4 hours
Tokyo Skytree is a broadcasting, restaurant, and observation tower in Sumida, Tokyo, Japan. It became the tallest structure in Japan in 2010 and reached its full height of 634 meters in March 2011, making it the tallest tower in the world, surpassing Canton Tower, and the second tallest structure in the world after the Burj Khalifa. It serves as a television and radio broadcast site for the Kanto region. The design is an expression of traditional Japanese beauty in a neo-futuristic form, taking the shape of a massive, white towering spire. It features two observation decks at heights of 350 and 450 meters, respectively, offering panoramic views of the vast urban landscape of Tokyo. LED lighting on the Skytree alternates between a 'Ciyaku' pale blue illumination and a 'Miyabi' purple illumination, beautifully lighting up the night sky. Adjacent to the tower is a retail complex with shops, restaurants, and an aquarium, making it a full-day experience for visitors. The tower's fast elevators transport guests to the observation areas where they can enjoy not just the view but also learn about the tower's structure and the city's geography through exhibits.
