Tso Lhamo Lake is one of the highest lakes in the world, situated at an altitude of about 5,330 meters above sea level in North Sikkim, India, near the border with China. This glacial lake is fed by the melting snow of the surrounding mountains, contributing to its clear bluish-green waters. The lake is part of the Tso Lhamo complex that includes other high-altitude lakes such as Gurudongmar Lake. It is located roughly 9 kilometers to the north of Gurudongmar Lake. The remote and rugged terrain leading to Tso Lhamo is dotted with a variety of flora and fauna adapted to the extreme weather conditions. Due to its proximity to the international border, visitors need to obtain a special permit from the Government of Sikkim. The journey to Tso Lhamo Lake is treacherous with steep and narrow pathways, but the scenic beauty and the serene environment make it a worthwhile experience for adventurers and nature lovers. Since the area is a sensitive zone, environmental preservation is of utmost importance, and tourists are expected to uphold conservation practices while visiting.
