Best Time to Visit Tura Peak, Tura, Meghalaya, India

The ideal time to visit Tura Peak, which stands majestically in Tura in the West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya, is during the months of October to April. This season is preferable due to the pleasant weather conditions that accompany the post-monsoon and winter months. The temperature during these months ranges from a mild 12°C to 28°C, providing a comfortable climate for trekking and exploring the lush surroundings. Furthermore, since Meghalaya, known as the abode of clouds, receives heavy rainfall during the monsoon, the post-monsoon period is when the region's flora is at its most vibrant, allowing visitors to enjoy the greenery and blooming flowers at their peak.

During this period, the skies are relatively clear, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding lowlands and the Brahmaputra valley from the peak. Moreover, the celebration of the Wangala Festival, usually in November, adds a cultural highlight to the visit. It's a harvest festival celebrated by the indigenous Garo tribals with dance, music, and traditional rituals. Travelers can immerse themselves in the local culture while enjoying the inviting weather. It is advisable to avoid the monsoon months from May to September due to heavy downpours that can lead to slippery trails and obstructed views, making outdoor activities challenging and less safe.
