Vantawng Falls Tourism

Vantawng Falls is situated in the Serchhip district near Thenzawl in Mizoram, India. Standing at a height of about 229 meters, it is the highest and most spectacular waterfall in the state of Mizoram. Surrounded by lush green tropical forests and steep hillsides, the waterfall cascades down in two tiers that create a dramatic and picturesque scene. The name 'Vantawng' is derived from 'Vana', which refers to the bamboo groves that cover the surrounding area, and 'Twang', which means leap or spring. The waters of the Vantawng Falls originate from the Vanva River, which meanders through the dense forests before taking the magnificent plunge. The base of the waterfall is not easily accessible due to the steep and rugged terrain, however, a viewing tower has been constructed by the tourism department for visitors to get a good view of the waterfall. The serenity of the place combined with the sound of gushing water offers a tranquil experience to visitors. Vantawng Falls has not only become an emblem of the natural beauty of Mizoram but also a popular spot for picnics and day trips among the locals and tourists alike.
