Best Time To Visit Veligandu (Maldives) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Veligandu Island Resort, Maldives

The ideal time to visit Veligandu Island in the Maldives largely depends on the type of weather and activities you wish to enjoy. The archipelago's tropical climate features two predominant seasons: the dry season and the wet season. The dry season, which spans from November to April, is generally considered the best period to visit Veligandu. During these months, you can expect clear skies, lower humidity, and minimal rainfall, making it perfect for beach lounging, snorkeling, and diving. The northeast monsoon tends to keep the seas calm, allowing for excellent visibility underwater, which is vital for a prime snorkeling and diving experience. Moreover, the dry season coincides with the high tourist season, so while the island is more crowded, the full range of tours and activities are readily available.

Conversely, the wet season, from May to October, sees the southwest monsoon bringing in more rain and wind, which can lead to rougher seas and less predictable weather. However, it's worth noting that rainfall usually comes in short, heavy showers, typically in the afternoon or evening, and is often followed by sunshine. Despite the increased chance of rain, the wet season offers its own perks. It's a fantastic time for surfers to catch the best waves, especially from June to August. Additionally, it's a great opportunity for visitors to enjoy the island with fewer tourists and at potentially lower rates. For those interested in marine life, manta ray and whale shark sightings can be particularly good during these months due to the plankton-rich waters.
