Victoria Square is a pedestrianised public square in Birmingham, and it is home to the iconic Council House, which serves as the home of the Birmingham City Council. Located at the heart of Birmingham City Centre, it's easy to reach by various modes of transport.

By Train

Birmingham has two main railway stations: Birmingham New Street and Birmingham Snow Hill. Both stations are within walking distance to Victoria Square.

  • To reach from Birmingham New Street: Exit the station and walk approximately 5 minutes north-east toward Victoria Square.
  • To reach from Birmingham Snow Hill: Walk roughly 8 minutes south-west, following signs leading you to Victoria Square.

By Tram

The Midland Metro tram service operates in Birmingham and the nearest stop to Victoria Square is Grand Central. Once you disembark the tram, Victoria Square is just a short walk away.

By Bus

Numerous buses serve the city center and have stops close to Victoria Square. Check with Network West Midlands for the best route from your starting location and look for stops near New Street or Colmore Row, which are both adjacent to Victoria Square.

By Car

If you are driving, there are several car parks within the city center, such as Town Hall Car Park and Grand Central Car Park. Be mindful of the city's one-way systems and pedestrianized zones. Victoria Square is not directly accessible to private vehicles, so you will need to park nearby and walk.

By Air

If you're arriving by air, Birmingham Airport (BHX) is the closest airport. From there, you can take a train from Birmingham International station to Birmingham New Street or use a taxi or bus to get to the city center.

Upon arrival at Victoria Square, the Council House can be recognized by its distinct architecture and prominent clock tower, known as 'Big Brum'. It's worth noting that entry to the Council House might be restricted for public and events, so check in advance if you wish to enter the building.
