Best Time To Visit Al Masjid An Nabawi (Medina (Madinah)) In 2026 - 2027

Al Masjid an Nabawi, located in the heart of Medina (Madinah), Saudi Arabia, is one of the holiest sites in Islam. One of the best times to visit this revered mosque is during the cooler months, from November to February, when the climate is pleasant for outdoor activities including prayer and exploring the city. During this period, the temperature in Medina is moderate, avoiding the extreme heat that characterizes the summer months. The daytime temperatures range from about 18°C to 30°C, which makes it comfortable for pilgrims and tourists alike to participate in prayers and visit the mosque without facing the harsh sun.

It is important to note that visiting during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan can also be a unique and spiritually rewarding experience, despite it possibly falling outside of the cooler months. Ramadan's dates vary each year according to the Islamic lunar calendar. During this month, Muslims around the world fast from dawn until sunset, and the atmosphere in and around Al Masjid an Nabawi is particularly vibrant and festive, especially at night after Iftar (breaking of the fast). However, be aware that the mosque and the surrounding city will be busier during Ramadan as Muslims from around the world travel to Medina for worship. If you’re planning to visit Al Masjid an Nabawi during Ramadan or the Hajj pilgrimage, make sure to book accommodations well in advance, as the city gets very crowded during these peak times.
