Travel Options to Alichur Village

By Road

The primary method of reaching Alichur Village is by road. Visitors typically arrive via the Pamir Highway, which is known for being one of the highest international highways in the world.

  • From Dushanbe: The journey from the capital city of Dushanbe to Alichur takes around 15-20 hours. It is advisable to break the journey into segments, with popular stops at Khorog or along the Wakhan Valley to rest and acclimatize to the high altitude.
  • From Osh: If you're coming from Kyrgyzstan, the trip from Osh to Alichur covers about 250-300 kilometers, takes approximately 7-10 hours, and crosses the Kyrgyz-Tajik border at the Kulma Pass, which is open seasonally (usually May through November).

By Air

Dushanbe and Khujand are the two main airports in Tajikistan that serve international flights. However, there are no direct flights to Alichur. Upon arriving in Tajikistan, visitors must transfer to ground transportation to reach Alichur.

Public Transport

Shared taxis and minibuses (marshrutkas) run from major cities such as Dushanbe and Khorog to Murghab. From Murghab, you can hire a private taxi to Alichur, which is about a 2-3 hour drive along the M41 highway.
