Best Time to Visit Bakhira Wildlife Sanctuary

Bakhira Wildlife Sanctuary, located near Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, is renowned for its vast expanse of marshes and aquatic flora and fauna. The sanctuary is a vital haven for migratory birds, making November to March the ideal period for visiting. During these cooler winter months, the climate is pleasant and birds from northern regions flock to the sanctuary, offering a splendid display for bird watchers and nature enthusiasts. The temperature during this time ranges from 10°C to 20°C, which is comfortable for exploring the outdoors without the harshness of the Indian summer heat or the unpredictable monsoon rains.

For tourists interested in experiencing the lush green surroundings and the full vibrancy of the wetland ecosystem, the end of the monsoon season, around late September to October, is also a good time. However, it's essential to note that the paths might be more challenging to navigate due to the water levels. Still, the verdant landscape makes it a picturesque escape. If you plan your visit during the peak season of November to March, you will also benefit from organised tours and boats that enhance the wildlife viewing experience. Whenever you visit, make sure to carry binoculars for bird watching and dress appropriately for the season.
