Barbarua Maidam, located near Dibrugarh in Assam, India, is an historical site that holds great archaeological and cultural significance. The term 'Maidam' refers to the burial mounds of important individuals, akin to pyramids for the Ahom kings, who ruled Assam for nearly 600 years until the early 19th century. Barbarua Maidam houses the remains of two high-ranking officials from the Ahom dynasty. It is not just a testament to the elaborate funeral practices of the Ahom rule but also a symbol of the rich history and traditions of the region. The site, entwined with verdant landscapes and rustic panoramas, offers a glimpse into the architectural and ritualistic customs of the bygone era. It provides an educational journey for history enthusiasts and a serene ambiance for visitors seeking a peaceful retreat amidst historical relics. While not as grand as some other Ahom constructions, the simplicity and tranquility of Barbarua Maidam make it a unique cultural heritage site in Assam, reflecting the bygone days with its sacred precincts and solemn environment.

Runis of Ahom kingdom
A few kilometres from Dibrugarh, Barbaruah maidams gives an insight to the history of Ahom monuments. Maidam or royal burial places are similar to the pyramids of Egypt and were used to bury the king..

Ordinary only park!
The maidan, as we call in Hindi, is nothing special worth to be mentioned. It is along the National Highway 37 and is mainly used by the local community.

A plain ground
I wonder why this is placed here. It is small ground on road side. May be good for local community, but nothing special
