This wildlife sanctuary covers an area of approximately 111.19 square kilometers and forms a part of the Assam valley tropical wet evergreen forests. It was designated as a sanctuary in 2004 and plays an important role in conserving the region's unique biodiversity. The sanctuary's landscape is marked by lush rainforests, myriad streams, and a variety of flora and fauna, including rare species like the Assam Macaque, Chinese pangolin, and the White-winged wood duck.
