The waterfall is located around 90 kilometers from the city of Balykchy, amidst the pristine Terskey Alatau mountains. It is accessible via a scenic drive along the southern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul, followed by a trek into the Barskoon gorge, renowned for its lush vegetation and alpine scenery. The waterfall, locally known as 'Barskoon Falls,' cascades down in a series of drops, with the largest being approximately 24 meters high. It is part of the Barskoon River, which originates in the nearby glaciers, providing a refreshing and cool atmosphere. The area around Barskoon Waterfall is also notable for its historical significance, with ancient inscriptions and a monument dedicated to astronaut Yuri Gagarin, who once visited this region. Trekking and picnicking are popular activities, and visitors are often treated to the sight of rainbow trout in the river's clear waters.
