By Car
Travelling by car is the most convenient way to get to Barskoon Waterfall. If you're coming from Bishkek, here are the directions:
- Start on the A365 highway heading east, towards Torugart.
- Follow the road for about 300 kilometers.
- Upon reaching the town of Barskoon, look out for signposts indicating the direction to the waterfall.
- The waterfall is about 20 kilometers from the main highway.
- The road is mostly paved, but the final few kilometers might be a gravel road, which may be challenging for regular cars, especially during rainy weather.
By Public Transport
Public transport options are more limited and may require several transfers:
- From Bishkek, you can take a minibus (marshrutka) or bus to Karakol. Make sure to tell your driver you want to be dropped off at Barskoon.
- Once in Barskoon, you may need to hire a taxi or arrange for a local guide to take you to the waterfall.
Tips for Your Visit
- Ensure your vehicle is in good condition, and you have enough fuel for the journey – the last petrol stations will be in Barskoon.
- Consider a 4x4 vehicle if you're travelling outside of the summer season, as the road conditions can be challenging.
- Bring sufficient water and snacks as there are limited facilities near the waterfall.
- Wear comfortable shoes since you may need to hike to get to the waterfall.
