Barua Sagar is a small town situated in the Jhansi district of Uttar Pradesh, India. Named after the Barua Sagar Tal, a large lake created by Raja Udit Singh of Orchha, the town exudes a bygone charm reflective of its historical significance. It is located 24 kilometers from Jhansi on the road to Khajuraho and is well-known for the Barua Sagar Fort, perched atop a hillock overlooking the lake, offering picturesque views of the surroundings. The fort is a vestige of the Bundela dynasty and was the site of a battle between the Marathas and the British during the Maratha Wars. The town is also nearby other historical attractions, including the ruins of a medieval temple and several ancient ghats (steps) leading down to the lake. The area is steeped in history and provides an off-the-beaten-path experience for those interested in India's rich past. The peaceful surroundings also offer a retreat from the hustle and bustle of larger cities.

Apparently way better once the water starts flowing from the dam.
Despite reaching in mid August, the water level was rather low. The fort is an imposing structure at the bank. There are tanks of water near some temples where people come to have a bath!
