Barua Sagar Tourism

Barua Sagar is a small town situated in the Jhansi district of Uttar Pradesh, India. Named after the Barua Sagar Tal, a large lake created by Raja Udit Singh of Orchha, the town exudes a bygone charm reflective of its historical significance. It is located 24 kilometers from Jhansi on the road to Khajuraho and is well-known for the Barua Sagar Fort, perched atop a hillock overlooking the lake, offering picturesque views of the surroundings. The fort is a vestige of the Bundela dynasty and was the site of a battle between the Marathas and the British during the Maratha Wars. The town is also nearby other historical attractions, including the ruins of a medieval temple and several ancient ghats (steps) leading down to the lake.
