Best Time to Visit Bhaktapur Durbar Square

Bhaktapur Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Bhaktapur, Nepal, is a tourist destination renowned for its rich culture, stunning architecture, and historical significance. The best time to visit Bhaktapur Durbar Square is during the autumn months, from October to November. During this period, the weather is mild with clear blue skies, offering spectacular views of the Himalayas and comfortable temperatures for exploring the area. Moreover, the biggest festival in Nepal, Dashain, followed by Tihar, occurs around this time, presenting visitors with the unique opportunity to experience the local culture and festivities in full swing. The monsoon season, which ends in September, leaves the valley lush and green, adding to the square's beauty.

However, another favorable time for a visit is during the spring, from March to April. This season is marked by moderate weather and the vibrancy of blooming flowers, including the national flower of Nepal, the rhododendron. Spring also coincides with Holi, the festival of colors, and the Nepali New Year, bringing about a festive atmosphere in the city. Although the mornings and evenings might be slightly cool, the afternoons are perfect for leisurely exploration. Keep in mind that, while the summer months from June to August see fewer tourists due to the monsoon rains, those who don’t mind the wet weather may enjoy a more peaceful visit and the occasional clearer days that offer breathtaking views of the Durbar Square against the dramatic monsoon sky.
