Best Time to Visit Biligiriranga Hills (BR Hills), Karnataka, India

The Biligiriranga Hills, affectionately known as BR Hills, is a serene mountain range situated in the southeastern part of Karnataka. Temperatures in this region fluctuate throughout the year, making certain periods more comfortable for visitors seeking outdoor activities and wildlife experiences. The best time to visit BR Hills is between the months of October and March. During these months, the weather is pleasant, with the monsoon season having just ended and the fresh greenery of the forests coming alive. The post-monsoon period boasts clear skies, cool temperatures, and ideal conditions for wildlife spotting in the protected reserve.

Additionally, this time is also perfect for birdwatching, as a variety of migratory birds visit the area. The temperature during this period ranges from a comfortable 20°C to 30°C (68°F to 86°F). It is advisable to avoid the summer months from April to June when the heat escalates, making treks and safaris less enjoyable. Likewise, the monsoon season from July to September can be challenging with heavy rainfall leading to slippery trails and possible restrictions in the wildlife sanctuary due to safety concerns. Planning your visit during the cooler months will also allow you to engage in tribal festivals that occur within the region, providing an insight into the rich cultural tapestry of the local Soliga community.
