Bomun Lake is an artificial lake located in the historic city of Gyeongju, South Korea, and it is part of the Bomun Tourist Complex. Surrounded by picturesque mountains and a range of luxury hotels, resorts, and cultural attractions, the lake offers a serene and beautiful setting for both relaxation and tourism. Created in 1976 as part of government efforts to boost regional tourism, it covers an area of 0.85 square kilometers. It has since become a favorite spot for visitors who enjoy walking, cycling, and picnicking along its well-maintained paths. Moreover, the lake is central to various cultural and recreational activities, including the Gyeongju Cherry Blossom Marathon in April and the annual Lotus Lantern Festival. The area surrounding the lake is rich with Silla Dynasty historical sites such as Bulguksa Temple and Seokguram Grotto, which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites, as well as the Gyeongju National Museum, highlighting its importance not only as a natural beauty spot but also as an area of significant cultural heritage.
