Please note that flights to Gilgit are weather-dependent, so it's essential to check the forecast and airline schedules ahead of your journey.

Traveling by Road

The most common way to reach Borith Lake is by the famed Karakoram Highway (KKH), also known as the N-35. Starting from Islamabad or Rawalpindi, you can take a bus or a private vehicle to drive up to Hunza, which usually takes around 12-15 hours. Once you reach Hunza, follow these steps:

  1. Drive towards Gulmit, a village in the Gojal Upper Hunza region.
  2. From Gulmit, take a local jeep or book a private ride to travel the remaining distance to Borith Lake. The ride is approximately 2 to 3 kilometers and takes around 20 minutes.
  3. Alternatively, you can trek from Gulmit to Borith Lake. The trek is mild and can be an enjoyable experience for hiking enthusiasts.

Daily bus services operate from major cities like Islamabad and Rawalpindi to reach Hunza. Companies like NATCO (Northern Areas Transport Corporation) provide these services. Once you arrive in Hunza, you can follow the above-mentioned steps to reach Borith Lake.

While traveling to Borith Lake:

  • Carry your CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card) or passport at all times as there are several check-posts along the Karakoram Highway.
