Best Time To Visit Brahma Sarovar (Kurukshetra) In 2026 - 2027

When to Visit Brahma Sarovar in Kurukshetra

Brahma Sarovar, the ancient and sacred water tank located in the holy city of Kurukshetra in Haryana, India, is a significant destination for pilgrims and tourists alike. The most ideal time to visit Brahma Sarovar is during the cooler months of October to March. During this period, the weather is pleasantly mild, making it conducive for visitors to explore and participate in outdoor activities and holy rituals without the discomfort of the intense heat that characterizes the summer months. The water in the tank remains cool and refreshing, offering a serene experience to those who come to take a holy dip, believed by many to wash away sins and purify the soul.

Visitors often plan their trip to coincide with the vibrant festival of Gita Jayanti, which is celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm in Kurukshetra, usually in the month of November or December based on the Hindu calendar. The festival marks the birthday of the Bhagavad Gita, the sacred text of the Hindus. Thousands of pilgrims gather at Brahma Sarovar during this time to take part in the grand festivities, which include religious discourses, deep daan (offering of earthen lamps to the water), and various cultural programs. The atmosphere is especially divine during the evening Aarti when the entire sarovar is lit up with floating lamps, and the air resonates with chants and prayers. To witness this spiritual spectacle and to experience the rich cultural heritage of Kurukshetra, planning your visit around Gita Jayanti is highly recommended.
