Charari Sharief Shrine Tourism

Charar-i-Sharif is a revered Sufi Order shrine located in the Charari Sharief town of Budgam district in Jammu and Kashmir, India. Dedicated to Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani, also known as Nund Rishi or Alamdar-e-Kashmir, it is one of the most ancient shrines in the Kashmir valley. The saint is revered by both Muslims and Hindus in the region, reflecting the syncretic culture of Kashmiriyat. This multi-storied wooden structure, representative of traditional Kashmiri architectural elements, has gone through multiple reconstructions, most notably after being damaged in 1995 during conflicts. The sanctum is surrounded by picturesque chinar trees and a bustling market town. Pilgrims and tourists visit the shrine for its spiritual importance and tranquil ambiance. It not only signifies religious harmony but also is a strong symbol of the rich cultural and historical tapestry of Kashmir.
