Charlotte Lake, also known as Sharlott Lake, is a serene water body located in Matheran, a hill station within Maharashtra, India. Matheran, which means 'forest on the forehead,' is renowned for its biodiversity and is one of the few places in the world where vehicles are banned, making it a unique eco-sensitive region. Situated at an elevation of about 800 meters (2625 feet), the lake acts as the primary source of drinking water for the town of Matheran and its surrounding regions. This idyllic spot is encased with lush greenery and is a popular attraction for nature lovers, photographers, and those seeking a tranquil escape from the bustling city life. The lake also serves as a crucial habitat for a variety of birds, making it a hotspot for birdwatching. The picturesque surroundings, along with the ancient Pisarnath Temple at its right bank, add an element of spiritual charm to the place. The region is often enveloped in mist, which enhances its mystical allure, especially during the monsoon. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely walk around the lake or engage in water-related activities when conditions are favorable.

Beautiful spot 40 minutes from the station
Multiple beautiful foresty paths to the lake. Cecil point, Lords point and Pisarnath temple close by. 2 eateries are around to serve piping tea and snacks. Lake had a lot of water in May. Felt good.

Relax and unwind
Nice quiet point to relax and unwind within walking distance of our hotel. Find a spot along the bank of the lake away from the food stalls and tourists!
