Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, also known as Chen Jiaci, is a symmetrical complex widely revered as a significant cultural site in Guangzhou, China. Constructed from 1888 to 1893 during the Qing Dynasty, the hall was initially established as an academic temple for the Chen family, where members could prepare for imperial examinations. The site has now been transformed into the Guangdong Folk Art Museum, showcasing various folk arts and crafts from Guangdong province. The hall is renowned for its traditional Chinese architectural elements and ornate decorations, including intricate wood carvings, stone sculptures, ceramic figurines, and elaborate frescoes that reflect the rich cultural heritage of the region. Spanning 15,000 square meters, the complex consists of nine main halls and six courtyards, interconnected by corridors. The façade features impressive ridge crests and uplifted eaves, while the interior of the buildings is lavished with well-preserved artworks that make it a quintessential example of Guangdong architecture and aesthetics. Visitors marvel at the level of detail in craftsmanship, which depicts historical, mythological, and everyday scenes.
