Baiyun Mountain, also known as 'White Cloud Mountain', is a scenic spot located in Guangzhou, the capital city of Guangdong Province in China. A Bus Ride to Mountaintop Square
This is the preamble for a trip my wife and I made to MoXing Summit (TA reviewed). It’s how we got from the main gate of BaiYun Shan to the Moutaintop Square bus terminus. Note: You can get the cable car up to Mountaintop Square. In this case, go to Yuntain Garden entrance and follow the signs. A bit more expensive than the bus but well worth it for the views. We took a taxi to the main gate of BaiYun Shan. There’s a ticket office there to get entrance tickets and for all the park’s buses. Note: Have your passport or at least a photo of the details on your phone. Over 60 and you sometimes get half-price, while 65 and over is sometimes free. The bus terminus from the main entrance is about 80 metres up the hill on the right. All buses go to Mountaintop Square. There are toilets at the terminus. Aside: We’ve got annual tickets, so no need to buy entrance tickets. All we do is present our ugly mugs to the facial recognition system at the gate and in we go. Rather than faff around with bus tickets at the office my wife bought them from the bus driver using her phone. Note: cash is now so yesterday, and don’t expect credit or debit cards to be accepted. It’s either Alipay or WeChat pay. At Mountaintop we had to revert to the usual paper tickets. The 20 minutes ride to Mountaintop was ¥20 each. The weather was rather damp and cloudy, there weren’t many passengers, so I got to ride as a tail-gunner on the bus. Here you get a lot better view of the passing scenery. There were a few hardy souls trekking up the road, but I resisted the temptation to wave at them as I’ve learned never to tempt fate!
