Cheonggyecheon Stream is a revitalized waterway in downtown Seoul, South Korea, which flows west to east for about 10.9 kilometers before meeting the Jungnangcheon Stream, which connects to the Han River. The stream starts from a small waterfall at Cheonggye Plaza, just beneath the reconstructed Cheonggyecheon Bridge, running alongside major thoroughfares with 22 bridges along its route. The urban renewal project transformed an overpass into a public recreation space in 2005. An elevated highway once covered the stream, but now it's a modern public space that merges nature with urban living and draws both locals and tourists alike. Its scenery changes with every season: cherry blossoms in spring, lantern festivals in autumn, and a lit-up ice festival in winter. Benches, stepping stones, waterfalls, and artwork line its paths, making Cheonggyecheon a popular spot for walks, cultural events, and a peaceful retreat from the city bustle.
