Best Time To Visit Chitrakote Falls (Bastar) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Chitrakote Falls, Bastar

The majestic Chitrakote Falls, often referred to as the 'Niagara Falls of India', is a natural wonder located in the Bastar district of Chhattisgarh. To witness the falls in their full glory, the best time to visit would be during the monsoon season, which runs from July to October. During this period, the Indravati River swells up due to the rainfall, which leads to the waterfall expanding and roaring down with immense volume and spectacular force. The lush greenery that surrounds the waterfall during monsoon adds to its enchanting beauty, making it a photographer's paradise and an ideal time for nature enthusiasts to visit.

However, if you prefer a less intense and more tranquil experience, the post-monsoon months, particularly between November and February, can be an equally good time to plan your trip. This is when the flow of the water is moderate and the weather is pleasant, with cooler temperatures and clear skies. Tourists looking to explore nearby attractions or indulge in activities such as boat rides in the calmer waters below the falls might find this period more suitable. While the waterfall might not be as dramatic as during the monsoon, its serene beauty during these months is certainly alluring.
