Chungthang is a quaint town located at the confluence of the Lachen and Lachung rivers in the North Sikkim district of the Indian state of Sikkim. It is considered to be a sacred place, as it is believed that Guru Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rinpoche, rested here before heading to Tibet. Rich in biodiversity and spectacular vistas, the town is enveloped by lush mountains with the rivers adding to its scenic beauty. It has a significant position within the Sikkimese culture due to its mythological and historical importance. In addition to the religious landmarks, Chungthang is known for its alpine vegetation and orchids. It serves as the gateway to two of the most picturesque towns in Sikkim - Lachung and Lachen - and is the starting point for treks towards the Gurudongmar Lake and the Tso Lhamo Lake. The town is also home to a variety of flora and fauna and is a must-visit for nature lovers and spiritual seekers.
