Food History of Clava Cairns, Inverness, United Kingdom

Clava Cairns is an ancient site located near Inverness in the Scottish Highlands. Dating back to around 4000 years ago during the Bronze Age, it's not primarily known for its culinary past but rather as a prehistoric burial ground consisting of cairns and standing stones. However, the broader area of Inverness and the Highlands has a rich gastronomic history deeply rooted in Scottish traditions. The fertile lands, rivers, and seas allowed for an abundant supply of fresh produce, seafood, and game (excluding cow products).
