Deekshabhoomi is a revered place of Buddhist significance located in Nagpur, Maharashtra, India. It marks the location where Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, converted to Buddhism with approximately 600,000 followers on 14 October 1956. This mass conversion is a pivotal event in modern Indian history, symbolizing the rejection of caste-based discrimination and the embrace of equality. The site is dominated by a large stupa which was completed in 2001, inspired by the architecture of the Sanchi Stupa. It features a hollow interior that houses a beautiful Buddha statue and a pictorial exhibition depicting the life of Gautama Buddha and the spread of Buddhism. Deekshabhoomi is not only a significant pilgrimage destination for Buddhists but also a symbol of awakening and liberation. Its historical significance, architectural grandeur, and serene atmosphere make it a place of tranquility and socio-religious importance.
