The Dhauladhar National Park, also known as the Gopalpur Zoo, is situated in the charming town of Palampur in the Kangra District of Himachal Pradesh. The best time to visit the Dhauladhar National Park is between March and June when the weather is most pleasant. During these months, the temperature ranges from 8°C to 30°C, ensuring comfortable conditions for wildlife spotting and enjoying the natural surroundings. The park inhabitants, which include Asiatic lions, red foxes, angora rabbits, and varieties of deer, are more active and visible. The flora in and around the park is also in full bloom, thus enhancing the beauty of the landscape with vibrant colors.
Alternatively, the months of September to November also offer a good window for visitors after the monsoon season when the greenery is still lush and the environment is refreshed. However, it is advisable to avoid the rainy season (July to mid-September) as the terrain can become slippery and the risk of landslides increases. Winter months from December to February can be quite cold with temperatures dropping below freezing, and while the snow-covered Dhauladhar ranges offer a breathtaking view, it may not be the ideal time for everyone to explore the park comfortably. To truly enjoy the magnificent vistas and to engage with the wildlife, spring to early summer remains the recommended visiting time for tourists and nature enthusiasts.
