The Eternal Peace Flame is one of the prominent attractions in Lumbini, Nepal, considered the birthplace of Lord Buddha. It is situated in the Lumbini Garden and holds great symbolic significance. This ever-burning flame represents eternal peace and the enlightenment of Gautama Buddha. The flame was lit in November 1986 during the visit of the then Secretary-General of the United Nations. Surrounded by a reflective water body and manifold flags representing different countries, visitors are greeted by the serene atmosphere of the garden. The location aims to inspire peace and harmony among visitors from around the world. With its deep spiritual context, the flame attracts not only pilgrims but also tourists interested in the history and spirituality of Buddhism. The site not merely adds to the serenity of Lumbini but also serves as a reminder of the potential for peace that lies within each individual and the global aspiration for non-violence and coexistence.
A flame kept burning eternally for peace in the world, the spot, located just at the southern end of the central canal, offers stunning views as well.
