Lumbini Monastic Site, located in the Lumbini zone of Nepal, is the birthplace of Lord Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama, the founder of Buddhism. It is recognized as one of the most significant spiritual sites and attracts pilgrims and tourists from around the world. Lumbini is not only a cornerstone of Buddhist faith but also a symbol of peace and unity. The site is marked by the Maya Devi Temple, which honours Buddha's mother and contains the exact spot where Lord Buddha was born. Surrounding the temple is the sacred garden and the Ashokan Pillar, erected by Emperor Ashoka to commemorate his pilgrimage to the holy site. The complex also includes monasteries built by different Buddhist nations, reflecting diverse architectural styles that stand in harmony, representing the universal nature of Buddhist teachings. Lumbini has been inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, ensuring conservation efforts for its ancient monuments, art, and significant archaeological remains. The tranquil atmosphere of Lumbini is enhanced by the presence of meditative ponds, manicured gardens, and a serene ambience conducive to reflection and study.

Walking or boating tour
You can tour all the temples and monasteries on foot or on a boat. This is a small boat ride. The water is clean. Tourists from all over the place could be seen humbled at the nativity site.

Quite site
It was said to be the Buddha’s birthplace. Many temples from different counties with its own take in Buddhist praying halls. Quite interesting to see the different culture influences in the same place..
