Food History of French Lighthouse, Kampong Cham, Cambodia

Kampong Cham, a serene province in Cambodia alongside the Mekong River, is often praised for its rich history and cultural significance. Although there isn't a specific establishment known as the "French Lighthouse," the region itself bears colonial traces that influence its architecture and, to some extent, its cuisine. During the French colonial era, various French elements were infused into Cambodian culture, including the culinary scene of Kampong Cham.

The traditional Cambodian cuisine, known locally as Khmer cuisine, has a history that stretches back centuries and is characterized by a variety of flavors and techniques. It often features fresh ingredients, subtle seasonings, and a range of herbs and vegetables. The French influence is evident in the use of baguettes and coffee, which have become staples in the everyday life of Cambodians.
