Phnom Srey and Phnom Pros, located in Kampong Cham Province, are two hills steeped in Cambodian folklore and cultural significance. Historically, these sites are known for the local legend which speaks to the gender-related traditional rivalry, where Phnom Pros represents the 'man hill,' and Phnom Srey symbolizes the 'woman hill.' The names of these hills translate to 'Man Hill' and 'Woman Hill' respectively. Both sites offer visitors a glimpse into the rich Khmer culture through the sculptures and pagodas nestled on their slopes. Traditionally, Phnom Pros is adorned with a vibrant pagoda, where Buddhist monks often reside, and is frequently visited by worshippers and tourists alike. Phnom Srey, however, is known for its sweeping views and is often less crowded, offering a more tranquil experience. These twin hills are surrounded by lush greenery, creating a serene environment perfect for meditation or leisurely walks. A staircase flanked by naga balustrades leads you to the top of each hill, providing a gentle climb. Visitors here can also enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and the town below from the hilltops.
