Goygol Lake is one of the most beautiful natural wonders of Azerbaijan, located at the foot of the Murovdag mountain range. The lake was formed as a result of a powerful earthquake in 1139 that led to the collapse of a mountain, creating a natural dam and consequentially the lake. Stretching over a length of 6.6 kilometers and reaching depths of up to 93 meters, Goygol Lake is renowned for its crystal-clear waters that vary in color from a deep blue to a vibrant green, depending on the light and time of day. It is a part of the Goygol National Park, which serves as a protected area for preserving the region's stunning landscapes and diverse flora and fauna. The lake and its surrounding forested mountains offer numerous activities, such as hiking, horseback riding, and picnicking, making it a popular destination for nature lovers. The area is steeped in history and legend, adding to its mystique and allure. It epitomizes Azerbaijan's rich natural beauty and is a testament to the country's dedication to environmental conservation.
