Best Time To Visit Green Lake Trek (Lachen) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Green Lake Trek, Lachen, Sikkim, India

The optimal time to undertake the Green Lake Trek in Lachen, Sikkim, is during the spring months from April to May, and then again in autumn from September to mid-November. During these seasons, the weather conditions are generally stable, with clear skies that afford magnificent views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. The spring season is particularly enchanting as the entire region bursts into a mosaic of blooming flowers, and the flora is at its most vibrant. Also, the temperate climate during these months makes trekking more enjoyable and less challenging compared to the colder periods.

Alternatively, the monsoon season from June to August and the winter months from December to March are usually avoided by trekkers due to the heavy rains and potential landslides during monsoon, and the extreme snowfall in winter, which can result in treacherous trails and blocked passes. Moreover, these conditions can increase the difficulty level of the trek significantly and may be hazardous for those who are not experienced in high-altitude trekking. Hence, it is highly recommended to plan your visit in the aforementioned favorable months for the most pleasant and safe trekking experience to Green Lake.
