Best Time To Visit Gundlakamma Reservoir (Ongole) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Gundlakamma Reservoir

The Gundlakamma Reservoir, nestled in the captivating region of Ongole in Andhra Pradesh, India, offers a serene escape for nature lovers and travel enthusiasts. To truly appreciate its beauty, the best time to visit the reservoir is during the post-monsoon period, which typically spans from October to March. During this season, the weather is pleasantly cool and the monsoon rains have replenished the reservoir, making the surrounding landscapes lush and green. The post-monsoon period is also ideal for bird watching, as a variety of migratory birds flock to the reservoir's abundant waters and the adjacent areas.

Avoid planning your visit during the summer months from April to June, as the scorching heat can make the experience uncomfortable with high temperatures going up to 40 degrees Celsius. While the monsoon months, from July to September, bring refreshing rain, they also make the area less accessible due to potential flooding and waterlogged roads. Furthermore, water levels might get too high for some activities like fishing or picnicking near the banks. For a tranquil visit with the opportunity to engage in outdoor activities like boating, photography, and sightseeing, the cooler months offer the ideal conditions.
