Hundur Monastery Tourism

Hundur Monastery, also known as Hundur Gompa, is a Buddhist monastery situated close to the Diskit village in the Nubra Valley, Ladakh, India. Belonging to the yellow-hat sect of Tibetan Buddhism, it was established in the 17th century. It is set in the midst of stark, serene landscapes of Ladakh, with mountains embracing the monastery complex that exudes tranquility. This religious site is famous for its large statue of Maitreya Buddha, Buddhist texts, frescoes, and traditional architecture. Hundur Monastery provides a panoramic view of the Nubra Valley, making it a haven for spiritual seekers and photographers alike. It is smaller compared to the Diskit Monastery but shares a close relationship in the religious activities of the valley. The monastery is home to a small but hospitable group of monks who maintain the gompa and perform religious ceremonies.
