Lachung Temple is an ancient Buddhist temple located in Diskit Village in the Nubra Valley of Ladakh, northern India. Perched at a remarkable elevation, the temple is part of the Diskit Monastery complex which is the largest and the oldest surviving monastery (gompa) in Nubra Valley. The temple stands out with its intricate murals and a statue of Cho Rinpoche (Crowned Buddha). The serene ambiance of the temple, surrounded by the rugged Himalayan landscape, offers a spiritual retreat and provides visitors with a glimpse into the region's rich cultural heritage. An impressive feature of the Diskit Monastery complex is the 32-meter statue of Maitreya Buddha near the monastery, which is said to protect the region from adversities.
